AIR FREIGHT MARKET NEWS (December -January)

A. Etihad Cargo is taking a disciplined approach to capacity and yield management as it experienced a softer demand level over the past year when passenger airlines
have been returning capacity. This approach involves reestablishments of interline agreements and fleet rationalisation to concentrate its fleet on more modern and
fuel-efficient aircraft, such as the B787. The carrier also offers Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and offsetting programmes. (Source: AirCargoNews)

B. Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA) has begun using Neste’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) to cut its flight emissions for several cargo flights in November and December.
The SAF supplied by Neste at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol can potentially reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% over the fuel’s life cycle compared to using
fossil jet fuel. The airline is eagerly implementing various fuel-saving activities to reduce CO2 emissions, and among them, using SAF is considered one of the most
effective measures to reduce these emissions. (Source: AirCargoNews)

C. Azerbaijan-based cargo carrier Silk Way West Airlines recently transported 100 Yaks safely across more than 2,000 kilometres as part of a wildlife reintroduction
project by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The yak-full flight was Silk Way flight 7L818, operated with the carrier's Boeing 747-400 freighter,
registered 4K-BCH. The flight departed from Manas International Airport in Kyrgyzstan and flew the nearly three-hour journey back home to Heydar Aliyev International
Airport in Azerbaijan. The yaks were transported in special cages designed to ensure that they were not exposed to any risk of injury during the flight. (Source: SimpleFlying)

D. Miami International Airport (MIA) is adopting a vertical approach to meeting air cargo capacity demand as it contends with limited space. The airport’s “Vertically
Integrated Cargo Community” project envisions a five-story storage warehouse which is expected to add approximately 4.5m (US) tons of cargo capacity to the 3m
