Disclosure: Winsail Logistics publishes this comparison and is also one of the freight forwarders evaluated. The same published selection criteria are applied to Winsail and the other listed companies.

Quick Answer for Ghana Importers

If you are choosing a shipping agent from China to Ghana, do not compare companies on ocean freight price alone. The more important questions are whether the forwarder can collect from your Chinese suppliers, consolidate cargo, arrange Full Container Load (FCL), Less than Container Load (LCL) or air freight, identify the Ghana destination agent, coordinate with a licensed clearing agent and explain where its responsibility ends.

This comparison covers 10 companies that met our public-evidence criteria. They are listed alphabetically rather than ranked by unverified performance. For normal Ghana sea imports, Tema—not Lagos—is the main gateway considered in this article. The Port of Tema is Ghana’s largest port, while Lagos is in Nigeria. See the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority Port of Tema page.

If you need a broader explanation of routes, transport methods, transit planning and import procedures rather than a company comparison, see shipping from China to Ghana.

How We Verified China-to-Ghana Shipping Agents

A company was not included simply because it appeared in Google results for “freight forwarder from China to Ghana” or called itself a leading logistics company.

To make the shortlist, we looked for several forms of current public evidence:

  • An accessible official company website.
  • A clear company or operating brand.
  • Evidence of China-based freight operations, offices, pickup, warehousing or supplier consolidation.
  • Evidence that Ghana is an active destination, through a route page, Ghana office, destination agent or published delivery capability.
  • At least two relevant logistics services, such as FCL, LCL, air freight, warehousing, customs coordination or inland delivery.
  • An official contact or office page.
  • No obvious sign that the business or website is inactive.
  • Enough information to compare the company with the other candidates using similar criteria.

Directories, marketplaces and third-party “top forwarder” articles may help discover companies, but they were not treated as sufficient qualification evidence.

“Verified” in this article means that relevant public evidence was found and checked. It does not mean that Winsail independently audited the company, inspected its facilities or certifies its service quality.

The companies are therefore presented alphabetically, not as an unsupported first-to-tenth performance ranking.

What a Complete China–Ghana Service Must Cover

A company saying “we ship to Ghana” does not necessarily mean it controls every stage from a Chinese factory to an importer’s warehouse in Accra, Kumasi or another Ghanaian city.

A complete quotation should make the following chain visible:

Shipment stageTypical responsible partyWhat the importer should confirm
Supplier pickupChina forwarder / truckerPickup address, EXW or FOB responsibility and pickup charge
China warehouseForwarder / consolidatorStorage, inspection, palletizing and consolidation charges
Export handlingChina forwarderExport declaration, documentation and booking responsibility
Main carriageCarrier arranged by forwarderFCL, LCL or air service and routing
Arrival in GhanaCarrier / destination agentArrival notice and local contact
Import declarationLicensed clearing agentWho files through ICUMS and who appoints the agent
Port or CFS releaseAgent / terminal / clearing agentHandling, deconsolidation and release charges
Inland deliveryLocal trucker / forwarder partnerFinal address, unloading scope and delivery charge
Final receiptConsigneeProof of delivery and claims procedure

The Ghana Revenue Authority states that import declarations are submitted through the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS) by a clearing agent. Its current guidance lists documents such as the Bill of Lading or waybill, invoice, packing list, Import Declaration Form and applicable permits. GRA also states that Customs House Agents are licensed and supervised by its Customs Division. See GRA Import Procedures.

For an importer, this creates a critical distinction: your freight forwarder may coordinate Ghana clearance without itself being the licensed Ghana entity that files the declaration.

Company Profiles

Basenton Logistics — Best for Multi-Supplier Consolidation and LCL

Basenton is a Shenzhen-based freight forwarder with a dedicated China-to-Ghana page. Its published Ghana capabilities include supplier pickup in China, consolidation, FCL, LCL, air freight and door-to-door coordination, with Tema and Takoradi named as destination ports. Its official contact page provides a Shenzhen office address and company contact channels. See Basenton’s China-to-Ghana service page.

That combination makes Basenton worth considering when an importer buys from several Chinese factories and wants one forwarder to collect and combine orders before export.

The limitation is destination verification. Some Ghana-specific warehouse, customs and documentation statements come from Basenton’s own marketing content rather than independent Ghanaian authorities. Confirm the actual Ghana destination agent, clearance party and destination-charge structure before paying.

Dantful International Logistics — Best for Mixed Ocean and Air Requirements

Dantful publishes China-origin ocean freight, air freight, warehousing, customs-clearance coordination and insurance services. Its Ghana route page also describes LCL consolidation, documentation, destination clearance coordination and final delivery. The company states that its air operations are based in Shenzhen with connections to other major Chinese gateways. See Dantful’s Ghana service page.

This makes Dantful a possible shortlist option for importers whose purchasing program uses both sea and air freight or requires temporary China-side warehousing.

A key point to verify is the Ghana handover. The reviewed route page describes destination clearance and delivery but does not clearly identify a named Ghana office or licensed Customs House Agent. Ask for the Ghana agent’s legal name, contact details and exact responsibility before shipment.

DHL Global Forwarding — Best for Enterprise Supply Chains

DHL Global Forwarding is different from DHL Express: it operates freight-forwarding services for commercial air and ocean cargo. Its China operation publishes air and ocean services, while its Ghana website provides FCL, LCL and air-freight products. Its LCL offering also includes buyer and shipper consolidation for cargo sourced from multiple manufacturers. See the DHL Global Forwarding China air freight page.

For larger companies, procurement teams or importers that value standardized systems, visibility and a global network, DHL Global Forwarding is a logical company to include in an RFQ round.

The limitation is lane specificity: we did not rely on a dedicated China-to-Ghana service page. Confirm that the requested origin city, Ghana destination, local-clearance arrangement and final-delivery scope are available for your specific shipment.

DSV — Best for China Network Coverage with Published Ghana Representation

DSV publishes an extensive footprint across major Chinese logistics cities and offers air, sea, road, rail, warehousing and project-logistics capabilities. Its official Ghana directory lists Consolidated Shipping Agency Ltd. in Accra for both air and sea freight services. See the DSV China country page and DSV Ghana agent listing.

This makes DSV particularly relevant to companies sourcing from several regions of China or businesses that prefer a large international forwarding network with a clearly published Ghana representation.

There is an important ownership distinction: DSV’s Ghana page identifies the local operation as an agent. Importers should therefore confirm which entity will contract, invoice, issue documents, coordinate customs clearance and handle claims at destination rather than assuming every stage is performed by a DSV-owned office.

EFANDA Logistics — Best for SME Door-to-Door Coordination

EFANDA is based in Shenzhen and publishes sea freight, air freight, FCL, LCL, warehousing, consolidation and door-to-door services. Its Ghana page specifically names Tema Port, Takoradi Port, Accra and Kumasi and says it coordinates customs support and local delivery in Ghana. See EFANDA’s China-to-Ghana service page.

For SMEs sourcing from South China, that makes EFANDA a relevant company to compare when the preferred scope extends beyond port-to-port freight.

However, importers should separate logistics capability from regulatory accuracy. Some EFANDA Ghana content includes customs-document claims that should not be used as authoritative Ghana import guidance. For compliance questions, use Ghana Revenue Authority and Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority sources. Also request the name and role of the actual Ghana clearing and delivery partners before booking.

HART Worldwide Logistics Limited — Best for China Pickup and Consolidation

HART Worldwide Logistics Limited publishes a headquarters address in Shenzhen and a dedicated China-to-Ghana route page covering air freight, FCL, LCL, door-to-door delivery, warehousing, supplier pickup and customs coordination. Its Ghana content also states that it works with local customs brokers and trucking providers. See HART’s official contact page.

This can make HART useful for buyers that need to collect cargo from suppliers in China before international transport and then coordinate delivery beyond the Ghana gateway.

Its main limitation is the difference between published network claims and independently identifiable destination infrastructure. The reviewed official contact information is China-focused, while Ghana warehouses, teams and brokers are largely described within HART’s own route content. Ask for the destination agent’s details in writing before cargo departure.

SINO Shipping — Best for China-Origin Coordination and Payment Verification

SINO Shipping publishes freight coverage across major Chinese hubs including Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Ningbo, Shanghai, Tianjin and Qingdao, together with sea freight, air freight, express and customs-coordination services. Ghana is listed within its Africa destination network, and the company maintains a dedicated China-to-Ghana guide. See SINO Shipping’s office and transit page.

A useful differentiator is its visible payment-security notice. SINO states that payments should be made only to designated accounts associated with its stated payment entity and advises customers to verify payment-detail changes directly.

That does not remove payment risk, but it provides a useful model for what importers should ask every forwarder to document. The limitation is Ghana-side visibility: confirm the actual local destination and clearance party before booking.

Welltrans Logistics — Best for Standard China-to-Ghana FCL, LCL and Air Enquiries

Welltrans publishes a Shenzhen head office and offers ocean freight, air freight, door-to-door shipping and warehousing. Its current Ghana page includes FCL and LCL services to Tema, air freight to Ghana and door-to-door options. See the Welltrans contact page and China-to-Ghana service page.

Those capabilities justify including Welltrans in a preliminary RFQ round for conventional commercial cargo.

However, this is also a good example of why buyers should not treat every freight-forwarder country guide as a regulatory source. The reviewed Ghana page contains obvious quality problems. Use Welltrans’s website to verify that the company offers services, but independently confirm routing, Ghana agents, ports and customs requirements.

Winsail Logistics — Best for Supplier Consolidation and Ghana FCL/LCL/Air Coordination

Winsail Logistics publishes offices in Guangzhou and Shenzhen and offers ocean freight, air freight, warehousing, door-to-door and customs-related coordination from China. Ghana is listed as a focus destination, and the company publishes dedicated Ghana sea and air content. See Winsail’s ocean freight service and Winsail contact information.

This makes Winsail relevant to importers that buy from Chinese suppliers and want China-side collection or consolidation combined with FCL, LCL or air-freight coordination.

Because Winsail publishes this comparison, its inclusion requires extra transparency. It should not be assumed to be the cheapest, fastest or best option. Ghana importers should request the same RFQ from Winsail and at least two other shortlisted companies, then compare origin charges, destination scope, customs responsibility and final delivery on the same basis.

Winsky Freight Co., Ltd. — Best for Smaller LCL and Consolidated Shipments

Winsky publishes an office in Shenzhen and offers supplier pickup, consolidation, sea freight, air freight, express transport and door-to-door services. Its China-to-Ghana page specifically covers LCL, air and sea services and refers to Tema and Takoradi. See Winsky’s China-to-Ghana service page.

This makes Winsky a potential option for smaller importers combining orders from multiple Chinese manufacturers or buyers that want pickup plus destination coordination rather than a simple port-to-port booking.

As with several China-based forwarders in this list, Ghana customs and local-delivery claims are mainly company-published. Before payment, ask who the actual Ghana destination agent is, whether the local clearing company is licensed, what charges it will invoice and whether the quoted door-to-door scope includes duties and taxes.

Tema Port and Local-Agent Handover

For mainstream containerized imports into Ghana, Port of Tema is the primary sea gateway to investigate. The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority describes Tema as the country’s largest port and notes that its surrounding logistics ecosystem includes Inland Clearance Depots, warehouses, haulage companies and freight forwarders. See the official Port of Tema page.

Takoradi is also important, but the cargo profile is different. GPHA describes the Port of Takoradi as an important commercial gateway with a strong role in Ghana’s oil-and-gas sector. See the official Port of Takoradi page.

For a typical Ghana importer, the important question is therefore not simply:

“Does your company ship to Tema?”

Ask instead:

  1. Who sends the Ghana arrival notice?
  2. What is the legal name of the destination agent?
  3. Who issues the destination invoice?
  4. Which licensed Customs House Agent files the declaration?
  5. Who pays duties and taxes?
  6. Who obtains the cargo release?
  7. Who arranges trucking from Tema or the CFS?
  8. Where does the forwarder’s contractual responsibility end?

GRA’s current import guidance states that the clearing agent submits the declaration through ICUMS. See GRA Import Procedures.

That makes the local handover part of your forwarder selection—not something to investigate only after the vessel has arrived.

China to Ghana shipping responsibility handover flowchart from Chinese supplier and consolidation warehouse to Tema or Takoradi, customs clearance, inland delivery and final consignee

LCL, Groupage and Door-to-Door Options

LCL and groupage are especially relevant to Ghanaian SMEs buying from several Chinese factories. Instead of paying for a full container, the forwarder consolidates your cargo with other shipments and commonly bases the international freight component on volume or weight.

For a fuller explanation of FCL and LCL rather than supplier selection, see sea freight from China to Ghana.

The risk is assuming that a quoted “USD X per CBM” represents the complete cost.

For an LCL RFQ, ask separately about:

  • Supplier pickup.
  • China warehouse receiving.
  • Storage period.
  • Consolidation.
  • Export documentation.
  • Origin handling.
  • Ocean freight.
  • Destination handling.
  • CFS/deconsolidation.
  • Delivery-order charges.
  • Ghana destination agent fees.
  • Customs-broker fees.
  • Duties and taxes.
  • Storage if clearance is delayed.
  • Final delivery to Accra, Kumasi or another city.

This is not a theoretical concern. The Ghana Shippers’ Authority has published guidance and regulatory updates related to freight charges, LCL cargo and port-cost transparency. See the Ghana Shippers’ Authority.

Door-to-Door Is Not Automatically DDP

“Door-to-door” describes a physical service scope. It does not automatically define who bears import duties, taxes or customs obligations.

Under the International Chamber of Commerce’s Incoterms® 2020 rule for Delivered Duty Paid (DDP), the seller carries the highest level of obligation under the Incoterms rules, including import-clearance responsibility and applicable duties and taxes up to the named destination. See the ICC Incoterms® 2020 DDP rule.

Therefore, never accept “door-to-door” and “DDP” as interchangeable wording.

Ask:

Is this DAP-style delivery with duties payable by the importer, or a genuine DDP contractual arrangement with import clearance, duties and taxes included?

Also confirm whether the proposed DDP structure can actually be executed legally for your cargo and importer setup in Ghana.

How to Verify WhatsApp, Payment and Bill-of-Lading Details

WhatsApp is widely used in China–Africa freight sales, but a WhatsApp conversation by itself is not proof that you are dealing with an authorized employee or payment account.

Use a simple cross-check before sending cargo or money.

1. Start from the Official Domain

Find the company’s phone, WhatsApp, email or contact form from its official website—not from a forwarded screenshot, social-media post or directory listing.

2. Match the Salesperson with the Company

If the person contacts you from WhatsApp, ask them to send the quotation from the company’s official email domain as well.

3. Verify the Invoice Entity

The brand name, contracting company and bank beneficiary may not always be identical. If they differ, ask for a written explanation before payment.

4. Reverify Every Bank-Detail Change

Never rely on an email saying “our bank account has changed” without checking through another previously verified channel.

SINO Shipping’s own website illustrates this risk-control practice by publishing a payment-security notice and advising clients to verify payment-detail changes directly.

5. Confirm Who Issues the Transport Document

For sea freight, ask:

  • Who issues the House Bill of Lading?
  • Who is shown as shipper?
  • Who is consignee?
  • Who is notify party?
  • Who is the Master Bill carrier?
  • Is the release original B/L, telex release or another arrangement?
  • Which Ghana agent handles release?

For air freight, apply the same principle to the House Air Waybill and Master Air Waybill where applicable.

6. Verify the Ghana Handover Before Sailing

Do not wait for an arrival notice to discover which company controls your cargo at destination.

A competent forwarder should be able to explain the handover before booking.

For a broader supplier-selection framework, see how to choose a freight forwarder in China.

Best Options by Cargo and Buyer Type

There is no single “best freight forwarder from China to Ghana” for every importer. A better shortlist depends on the shipment.

First-Time Importer with Several Chinese Suppliers

Prioritize:

  • Supplier collection.
  • China warehousing.
  • Consolidation.
  • LCL capability.
  • Clear destination charges.
  • A named Ghana destination agent.

China-focused forwarders such as Basenton, EFANDA, HART, SINO, Winsail and Winsky are worth comparing for this type of RFQ because their websites explicitly emphasize China-origin coordination or consolidation.

Regular FCL Wholesaler

Price matters more at recurring container volume, but so do carrier options, equipment availability, documentation discipline and destination execution.

Compare both China-focused companies and global providers such as DHL Global Forwarding or DSV. Do not assume a larger global provider will always quote lower, or that a smaller China forwarder will always be more flexible.

Urgent or High-Value Air Cargo

Prioritize airport handling, routing, airline options, customs coordination and final-delivery capability rather than choosing from an ocean-freight comparison.

For this scenario, also review air freight from China to Ghana.

Industrial or Project Cargo for Western Ghana

Takoradi deserves more attention where cargo is connected to western Ghana, oil and gas, mining or industrial projects. GPHA specifically describes Takoradi’s strategic role in Ghana’s oil-and-gas industry.

The selection criteria should then expand beyond standard FCL/LCL rates to include project logistics, special equipment, heavy-lift coordination and inland transport.

Enterprise Importer Requiring Global-Network Visibility

DHL Global Forwarding and DSV are more relevant to this buyer profile because of their broad international freight networks and formal destination structures. That does not automatically make them better for a small five-CBM shipment; buyer fit matters more than company size.

RFQ Checklist: What to Send Before Comparing Quotes

Do not send one forwarder detailed cargo information and another only “What is your price per CBM?”

Copy the same RFQ to two or three shortlisted companies:

  • Product / commodity:
  • HS code, if known:
  • Supplier city:
  • Pickup address:
  • Number of Chinese suppliers:
  • Trade term with supplier: EXW / FOB / other
  • Number of cartons or pallets:
  • Package dimensions:
  • Total gross weight:
  • Total CBM:
  • Cargo-ready date:
  • Battery / dangerous goods / regulated cargo:
  • Preferred mode: FCL / LCL / air:
  • Preferred Ghana gateway:
  • Final delivery city/address:
  • Port-only or door delivery:
  • Do you already have a Ghana clearing agent?
  • Are customs brokerage charges included?
  • Are duties and taxes included or excluded?
  • Please itemize China-origin charges:
  • Please itemize Ghana destination charges:
  • Please identify the Ghana destination agent:
  • Who will issue the HBL or HAWB?
  • What release method will be used?
  • Is cargo insurance included or optional?
  • Quote validity:
  • Key exclusions:

A quote is only genuinely cheaper when the scope is comparable.

FAQ

Q: How do I choose a freight forwarder from China to Ghana?
A: Start with operational fit rather than price. Verify that the company has a real China operation, can handle your shipping mode, has current Ghana destination evidence and can explain who performs customs clearance and final delivery. Then send the same RFQ to two or three companies and compare inclusions, exclusions, destination charges and handover responsibility.

Q: How can I verify a China-to-Ghana shipping agent before making payment?
A: Use contact details from the company’s official website, ask the salesperson to communicate through the official company email domain, confirm the invoice and bank-beneficiary entity and independently verify any change in payment instructions. Also ask for the Ghana destination agent’s name before booking.

Q: Is Lagos a port in Ghana, or should my shipment use Tema or Takoradi?
A: Lagos is in Nigeria, not Ghana. The Port of Tema is Ghana’s largest port and the main container gateway considered for normal China-to-Ghana sea imports. Takoradi is another Ghanaian commercial port and can be particularly relevant to western Ghana, bulk, mining, industrial and oil-and-gas-related cargo.

Q: How is LCL shipping from China to Ghana charged per CBM?
A: LCL ocean freight is commonly quoted according to shipment volume or weight, subject to the consolidator’s charging basis. The quoted freight per CBM may not include China pickup, warehouse handling, documentation, destination deconsolidation, clearing-agent fees, duties, taxes or inland delivery, so request a full destination-charge breakdown.

Q: Who handles customs clearance when cargo arrives at Tema Port?
A: Ghana Revenue Authority guidance states that a clearing agent submits the customs declaration through ICUMS. Customs House Agents are licensed and overseen by the Customs Division of GRA. Your China forwarder may coordinate the process through a Ghana partner, but you should ask for the actual clearing party’s identity.

Q: Does door-to-door shipping from China to Ghana mean DDP?
A: No. Door-to-door describes where the cargo is collected and delivered; it does not by itself establish who bears import duties or taxes. Under Incoterms® 2020 DDP, the seller is responsible for import clearance and applicable duties and taxes up to the named destination. Confirm the Incoterm and exact inclusions in writing.

Q: How do I verify WhatsApp and Bill-of-Lading details?
A: Match the WhatsApp number or salesperson with an official company contact channel, verify quotations through the corporate email domain and ask in advance who will issue the House Bill of Lading, who appears as consignee and notify party, which carrier issues the Master Bill of Lading and which Ghana agent controls cargo release.

Q: What information do freight forwarders need to quote shipping from China to Ghana?
A: At minimum, provide the commodity, pickup city, supplier address, cartons or pallets, dimensions, gross weight, CBM, cargo-ready date, supplier Incoterm, shipping mode and final Ghana delivery point. Also disclose batteries, dangerous goods or other regulated cargo.

Choosing a shipping agent from China to Ghana should be treated as a risk-allocation decision, not a search for the lowest headline freight rate.

The strongest candidate for your shipment is the one that can show credible China-side capability, explain the Ghana handover, identify who handles customs clearance, disclose destination costs and put payment, transport-document and final-delivery responsibilities in writing.

Shortlist two or three companies from the comparison above, send each the same RFQ and compare the complete chain from your Chinese supplier to the final Ghana delivery point.

Need a China-to-Ghana quotation? Winsail Logistics can provide one option for comparison covering supplier pickup, consolidation, FCL, LCL, air freight and destination coordination. Because Winsail also publishes this article, you should compare its proposal against other qualified providers using the same scope and selection criteria.
