Publisher disclosure: Winsail Logistics publishes this comparison and is also one of the freight forwarders evaluated. The same published selection criteria are applied to Winsail and the other listed companies.

If you are comparing shipping agents from China to Kenya, do not choose on the lowest ocean rate or a WhatsApp quote alone. We identified nine freight forwarders with current official evidence of China-side logistics capabilities and China-to-Kenya service coverage. The companies below are compared by supplier consolidation, FCL and LCL capability, air freight, Mombasa or Nairobi handover, local-delivery coordination, official contact evidence and important limitations.

This is not a numerical quality ranking. The nine companies are presented as verified options rather than a claim that Company 1 is better than Company 9. The most important question is whether the forwarder can clearly explain who controls your cargo at every stage—from the Chinese supplier to the final handover in Kenya.

For a broader explanation of routes, transport modes and the overall process, see our shipping from China to Kenya guide.

Already comparing quotations? Use the same cargo details, Incoterm and Kenya delivery point when requesting a second quote. Otherwise, two apparently similar freight prices may cover very different service scopes.

How We Verified China-to-Kenya Shipping Agents

A company was not included simply because it appeared in Google for “freight forwarder from China to Kenya.”

We first looked for companies appearing across searches for China-to-Kenya freight forwarding, shipping agents, logistics companies, Mombasa shipping, LCL consolidation and door-to-door services. We then checked the companies’ own websites.

To qualify for this comparison, a provider needed evidence of:

  • An accessible official company website
  • A clearly identifiable company or operating brand
  • China-side freight operations, offices, warehouses, pickup or consolidation capabilities
  • Specific Kenya, Mombasa, Nairobi or China-to-Kenya service evidence
  • At least two relevant logistics capabilities, such as FCL, LCL, air freight, consolidation, warehousing, customs coordination or inland delivery
  • An official contact page, office address, phone number or company email
  • No obvious indication that the business or website had ceased operating

Directories, social-media profiles and third-party “top freight forwarder” lists were not treated as sufficient proof.

There is another important limitation to the word verified. It means that the company’s public operational claims above could be checked against its official website. It does not mean that every company has independently verified Kenyan customs-licence status.

The Kenya Revenue Authority defines a customs agent as a company licensed by the Commissioner Customs and Border Control to perform clearance procedures for another company or individual. KRA also maintains a current Customs Clearing Agents List for 2026.

Therefore, when a China-based freight forwarder says it “handles customs clearance in Kenya,” the importer should still ask:

What is the full legal name of the Kenyan clearing agent that will lodge my entry?

That name can then be checked against current KRA information.

For a broader framework for vetting Chinese forwarding companies, see how to choose a freight forwarder in China.

What a Complete China–Kenya Service Must Cover

A good China-to-Kenya quotation should make the handover chain visible.

For many shipments, the physical flow looks approximately like this:

Chinese supplier → China pickup → consolidation warehouse → export handling → ocean or air freight → Port of Mombasa or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport → Kenyan destination/clearing agent → inland transport → importer

The same company does not necessarily perform every activity itself.

For example, a freight forwarder in Shenzhen may collect cargo from factories in Foshan and Dongguan, consolidate it in a China warehouse, book an ocean container and issue a House Bill of Lading. After arrival at the Port of Mombasa, a Kenyan destination agent may take over documentation and coordinate with a separately licensed customs clearing agent. A rail or trucking company may then handle the inland movement to Nairobi.

That arrangement is normal. What creates risk is not the use of partners—it is not knowing who the partners are or where responsibility changes.

For regulated products, compliance also begins before the cargo reaches Kenya. The current Kenya Bureau of Standards PVoC framework lists China in Zone 1 and names appointed inspection companies for that region. Importers should confirm whether their goods are subject to PVoC and which party is coordinating the required conformity process before shipment.

A “complete” service should therefore explain both the transport chain and the responsibility chain.

The strongest comparison is not “who offers sea freight?” Almost every company does. The useful differences are warehouse coverage, small-shipment acceptance, Kenya-side visibility, payment controls and how clearly the destination handover can be documented.

Already have one or two freight quotations? Compare them on the same origin, cargo volume, Incoterm, Kenya delivery point and destination-charge scope before deciding which provider is genuinely more suitable.

Company Profiles

Bansar — Best for Multi-Origin China Consolidation

Best for: Importers buying from suppliers located across several Chinese manufacturing regions.

Bansar publishes offices in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Dalian, Ningbo, Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Tianjin, Qingdao and other Chinese cities. Its service menu includes sea freight, air freight, FCL, LCL, pickup, delivery, warehousing and door-to-door shipping. The company’s China-to-Kenya service information specifically discusses sea freight to the Port of Mombasa and air freight to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

That China-office footprint makes Bansar worth shortlisting when several suppliers must be coordinated before export.

Important limitation: the Kenya guide also contains indicative cost, tax and transit information that should not be used as a current quotation. Ask for a shipment-specific offer and the legal name of the Kenyan customs clearing agent before booking.

What to confirm: Which entity will issue the House Bill of Lading and which company will handle the Mombasa customs entry?

Shenzhen Basenton Logistics Co., Ltd. — Best for LCL and Door-to-Door Cargo Above Published Minimums

Best for: Commercial importers who want China consolidation plus LCL, air or door-to-door coordination.

Basenton’s China-to-Kenya service page lists FCL container shipping, LCL freight to Mombasa, air freight to Nairobi, door-to-door services, DDP/DDU options and consolidation of cargo collected from different suppliers. Its official contact page lists a Shenzhen office, company email, phone and WhatsApp.

The company also publicly states a useful operating boundary: shipments should be more than 45 kg by air or more than 1 cubic meter by sea. That makes it easier for very small importers to know whether the provider is suitable before requesting a quote.

Important limitation: public Kenya content does not identify the legal entity of the Kenyan clearing partner.

What to confirm: Does the LCL quotation include Mombasa deconsolidation, customs-agent charges and delivery to your actual Kenyan address?

Chinaland Company Limited — Best for Kenya-Facing Consolidation and Nairobi Collection Visibility

Best for: Kenyan SMEs buying small or medium quantities from Yiwu, Guangzhou and Foshan.

Chinaland Company Limited is unusually Kenya-specific compared with many China-based global forwarders. Its website describes China origins in Yiwu, Guangzhou and Foshan, destinations in Nairobi and Mombasa, LCL, sea freight, air freight and door-to-door services. It also states that it operates direct warehouses in Guangzhou for air cargo and Foshan for sea cargo, while publishing Kenya contact information.

Its LCL service is particularly relevant to buyers consolidating small orders from wholesale markets or several suppliers. The company advertises LCL from 0.1 CBM, although the final commercial quotation still needs to be checked for minimum charges and destination costs.

Important limitation: Chinaland refers to KRA clearance and customs-clearance capability on its own site, but importers should still request the exact licensed clearing-agent entity and verify it independently.

What to confirm: Is the quoted CBM rate warehouse-to-Nairobi, warehouse-to-Mombasa, or only international freight?

HART Worldwide Logistics Limited — Best for Broad China Pickup Coverage

Best for: Importers sourcing from suppliers spread across multiple Chinese cities.

HART Worldwide Logistics Limited publishes a Shenzhen headquarters and says its network includes branches or warehouses in more than 20 Chinese cities. Its Kenya service page offers air freight, FCL, LCL and door-to-door shipping, while also referring to representatives or warehouses in Kenya.

This broad China-side network can be useful for a buyer who does not want to arrange separate domestic freight from every supplier to one port.

Important limitation: parts of HART’s long Kenya guides contain dated freight examples and promotional claims. These should not be treated as current market evidence. The reviewed public information also does not clearly identify the Kenyan customs-agent legal entity.

What to confirm: Is the Kenya representative an owned operation, an exclusive agent or an independent partner—and who will appear on the destination release documentation?

Presou Logistics — Best for Multi-City China Pickup and Consolidated Shipments

Best for: Importers who need one coordinator for supplier pickup across several major Chinese port regions.

Presou’s China-to-Kenya page identifies Shenzhen as its main office and refers to branches in Guangzhou, Ningbo, Shanghai, Qingdao, Tianjin and Xiamen. It describes supplier pickup in China, FCL, LCL, air freight and a partner network used for customs and final delivery in Kenya. Its other service pages also list warehousing, consolidation and door-to-door logistics.

This makes Presou a practical shortlist candidate for buyers whose factories are not all located in the same Chinese province.

Important limitation: the Kenya page describes local partners but does not publicly identify the exact Kenyan company responsible for clearance.

What to confirm: Ask Presou to provide the destination agent’s legal name, Kenyan clearing-agent name, contact details and the exact handover point before you pay the freight balance.

SINO Shipping — Best for Buyers Who Want Explicit Payment-Control Procedures

Best for: Importers who place extra emphasis on verifying bank-account changes and payment instructions.

SINO Shipping lists offices in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Ningbo, Shanghai, Dalian, Tianjin and Qingdao, with sea freight, air freight, express and customs services. Kenya is part of its published Africa network, and the company maintains a current China-to-Kenya page.

A useful differentiator is its public payment-security guidance. SINO says payments should go only to designated accounts and that payment details should be verified directly with its team.

Important limitation: the August 2026 Kenya page contains inconsistent LCL numbers in different sections. That is precisely why live rates should be obtained in a formal quotation rather than copied from a web page.

What to confirm: Bank beneficiary, quote validity, LCL destination charges and Kenya clearing-agent identity.

Shenzhen Tonlexing International Logistics Co., Ltd. — Best for Sea, Air and DDP Cargo Above Published Minimums

Best for: B2B importers seeking sea, air or DDP coordination from a clearly identified Shenzhen legal entity.

Tonlexing’s Kenya service page covers air freight to Nairobi, FCL/LCL sea freight to the Port of Mombasa, express shipping and DDP door-to-door options. Its contact page identifies Shenzhen Tonlexing International Logistics Co., Ltd., provides physical Shenzhen addresses, telephone, email and WhatsApp, and includes a payment-security notice.

Like Basenton, Tonlexing also states that it generally requires shipments above 45 kg by air or 1 CBM by sea.

Important limitation: its Kenya pages describe customs-clearance support, but the exact Kenyan clearing-agent legal entity is not publicly named in the information reviewed.

What to confirm: Ask whether DDP uses a named importer/clearance structure suitable for your goods and request a written list of exclusions.

Shenzhen UCS Logistics Co., Ltd. — Best for China Multi-Office Coordination with Kenya Inland Handover

Best for: Importers who want China-wide origin coverage plus clear routing options to Mombasa or Nairobi.

UCS Logistics publishes a Shenzhen head office and affiliated branches in Guangzhou, Zhongshan, Xiamen, Shanghai, Ningbo, Qingdao and Tianjin. Its Kenya page specifically discusses sea freight from major Chinese ports, Mombasa Port, Nairobi Inland Container Depot and door-to-door options. Air freight is also offered.

The explicit mention of Nairobi ICD is useful because it distinguishes the port of discharge from the inland place where some Kenyan importers may ultimately receive or clear containerized cargo.

Important limitation: public pages do not clearly identify the Kenyan partner that performs the customs entry.

What to confirm: Whether your bill of lading is to Mombasa or through to Nairobi ICD, and which party controls each inland movement.

Winsail Logistics — Best for China-Side Consolidation with Kenya Delivery Coordination

Best for: Importers who want supplier pickup and consolidation in China combined with FCL, LCL, air or Kenya delivery coordination.

Winsail publishes offices in Guangzhou and Shenzhen and describes cargo pickup from Chinese cities plus multi-supplier consolidation. Its warehouse network covers major Chinese logistics hubs, while its Kenya route content covers Mombasa, Nairobi air cargo, FCL, LCL and door-to-door arrangements.

Important limitation: Winsail publishes this article. Readers should therefore compare its quotation, destination-agent details and service boundary under exactly the same RFQ used for other companies. The public information reviewed does not identify the legal entity of its Kenyan customs-clearing partner.

What to confirm: The Kenya destination agent, clearing entity, consignee/importer arrangement and what is excluded from any DDP or door-to-door price.

Port and Local-Agent Handover

For sea cargo, “arriving in Kenya” usually means the beginning of a second logistics phase—not the end of the shipment.

The Kenya Ports Authority describes the Port of Mombasa as a gateway to East and Central Africa, with container terminals serving Kenyan and regional cargo.

Once a container arrives, several different parties may become involved:

StageTypical partyWhat the importer should confirm
China pickupChina forwarder / domestic truckerPickup address, cargo count and receiving warehouse
ConsolidationChina warehouse / forwarderWarehouse receipt, CBM, packaging and cut-off
Main carriageShipping line / airlineBooking, routing and shipping document
Mombasa arrivalCarrier / destination agentArrival notice and release process
Customs declarationLicensed Kenyan customs agentLegal company name and licence status
Port/CFS releaseTerminal, CFS and clearing agentCharges, inspection and release requirements
Inland moveSGR operator / truckerNairobi ICD or final delivery address
Final handoverLocal transporter / destination agentProof of delivery and excluded services

The distinction between Port of Mombasa and Nairobi Inland Container Depot matters.

Kenya Ports Authority states that Nairobi, Naivasha and Eldoret ICDs connect inland customers with Mombasa, while its Nairobi ICD is linked to Mombasa by rail. Kenya Railways currently states that its Madaraka Express Freight Service carries 20-foot and 40-foot containerized cargo between Mombasa and Nairobi.

So before booking, ask whether your quotation ends at:

  • Mombasa Port
  • A Mombasa CFS
  • Nairobi Inland Container Depot
  • The forwarder’s Nairobi warehouse
  • Your shop, warehouse or project site

Those are not interchangeable destinations.

LCL, Groupage and Door-to-Door Options

LCL and groupage are popular with Kenyan importers sourcing smaller quantities, but a low per-CBM number is one of the easiest freight quotations to misunderstand.

A quote such as “USD X per CBM from Guangzhou to Kenya” is incomplete unless it defines the two ends of the service.

Ask whether the price includes:

  • Factory pickup
  • China warehouse receiving
  • Storage before consolidation
  • Repacking or palletizing
  • Export customs handling
  • Documentation
  • Ocean freight
  • Mombasa destination charges
  • CFS or deconsolidation charges
  • Kenyan customs-agent service
  • Duties and taxes
  • Transport to Nairobi
  • Final delivery

The cheapest freight-per-CBM quote can become the more expensive option once these items are added.

If your cargo is being collected from multiple suppliers, send the forwarder a supplier list before quoting. Include each supplier’s city, cargo-ready date, cartons, dimensions, weight and CBM.

For additional cost-planning detail, see our shipping cost from China to Kenya guide.

Door-to-Door and DDP Are Not the Same Question

“Door-to-door” describes the physical delivery scope. It does not, by itself, define who bears import duties or who legally handles customs.

DDP goes further. Under the International Chamber of Commerce Incoterms® 2020 framework, DDP places import-clearance responsibility on the seller, although practical realities can make import clearance by a foreign seller difficult in some countries.

That makes one question especially important in Kenya:

If you quote DDP, who is the actual importer/declarant and which licensed Kenyan agent performs the customs entry?

Do not accept “our Kenya team handles everything” as the complete answer.

For more detail on the commercial structure, see DDP shipping from China to Kenya.

How to Verify WhatsApp, Payment and Bill-of-Lading Details

A professional-looking WhatsApp profile is not proof that you are speaking to the company you found on Google.

Before transferring money, use a simple verification chain.

1. Start from the Company’s Official Website

Find the phone or WhatsApp number from the company’s own contact page.

Do not begin with a number copied from:

  • A Facebook comment
  • A forwarded WhatsApp message
  • A Telegram group
  • An online directory
  • A person claiming to be the company’s “Kenya agent”

If the number contacting you is different from the official website, verify it using the official company email.

2. Match the Company Name Across the Quote and Payment

Compare:

  • Website company name
  • Quotation issuer
  • Invoice issuer
  • Bank beneficiary
  • Email domain

Different names are not automatically fraudulent—international logistics groups may use different legal entities—but the relationship should be explained in writing.

3. Treat Bank-Account Changes as High Risk

If you receive a message saying:

“Our old bank is unavailable. Please pay this new account.”

Do not rely on the same email thread or WhatsApp contact to verify the change.

Call or email the company using details obtained independently from its official website.

SINO Shipping and Tonlexing both publish explicit payment-security guidance, which is a useful example of the kind of control importers should expect.

4. Verify the Bill-of-Lading Structure

Before sailing, confirm:

  • Who issues the House Bill of Lading?
  • Who issues the Master Bill of Lading?
  • Who is the shipper?
  • Who is the consignee?
  • Who is the notify party?
  • What is the port of discharge?
  • Is the place of delivery Mombasa or an inland point?
  • Is release by original B/L, sea waybill or telex release?
  • Who is the destination agent?

A freight quotation and a bill of lading are connected. If the destination agent appearing on the shipping document is completely different from the company described before payment, ask for an explanation before the cargo arrives.

Checklist for verifying a China to Kenya shipping agent before payment, including company identity, official contacts, Kenya agent, Bill of Lading and DDP charges

Best Options by Cargo and Buyer Type

There is no single “best freight forwarder from China to Kenya” for every shipment.

A better shortlist depends on the problem you need solved.

Multiple Suppliers and LCL Consolidation

Prioritize companies with clear China warehouse and consolidation evidence.

Potential shortlists include:

  • Bansar
  • Basenton
  • Chinaland
  • Presou
  • Winsail

For these shipments, warehouse receiving accuracy and supplier coordination may matter more than the ocean rate itself.

Regular FCL Imports Through Mombasa

If you import full containers regularly, compare:

  • Origin-port coverage
  • Carrier options
  • Booking control
  • Documentation
  • Destination-agent structure
  • Mombasa charges
  • Inland delivery capability

Bansar, HART, Presou, SINO Shipping, Tonlexing, UCS Logistics and Winsail all publish relevant FCL/sea capabilities.

The correct choice should be based on an actual lane quotation, not a generic rate table.

Urgent Air Freight to Nairobi

For urgent spare parts, electronics, samples or higher-value cargo, compare China pickup plus airport handling rather than asking only for “air freight per kg.”

Basenton and Tonlexing publicly state minimum air-shipment thresholds above 45 kg. Other providers should be asked whether minimum chargeable weights apply.

First-Time Importers Asking for Door-to-Door Shipping

Focus less on sales language such as “one-stop service” and more on responsibility.

Ask:

  • Who clears the cargo?
  • Who pays the taxes?
  • Who is the importer?
  • What happens if KEBS inspection or additional documentation is required?
  • What charges are excluded?
  • Where exactly is the final delivery point?

Buyers Delivering Inland Beyond Mombasa

If your business is in Nairobi, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu or another inland location, ask for a separate breakdown between:

international freight → port/airport clearance → inland transport

This makes it easier to compare a true door-delivery quote against a Mombasa-only quote.

RFQ Checklist for China-to-Kenya Freight Quotes

Kenya Destination

  • Mombasa / Nairobi / Other:
  • Port-only or final delivery:
  • Final delivery address:
  • Customs clearance required: Yes / No
  • DDP requested: Yes / No

Questions the Forwarder Should Answer

  • What exactly is included?
  • What destination charges are excluded?
  • What is the legal name of the Kenya clearing agent?
  • Who will appear as importer/declarant?
  • Who issues the House Bill of Lading?
  • Who is the Kenya destination agent?
  • Is PVoC/CoC coordination included where applicable?
  • What is the quotation validity?
  • What is the legal name of the payment beneficiary?

Using the same RFQ for every forwarder is the only meaningful way to compare prices.

Need another China-to-Kenya quotation? Winsail Logistics can be included as one of the providers you compare. Send the same cargo data and delivery scope used for the other shortlisted companies rather than requesting a simplified “best price.”

FAQ

Q: How do I choose a reliable shipping agent from China to Kenya?

A: Start by verifying an official website, China office or warehouse evidence, a specific Kenya service page and official contact details. Then compare service boundaries rather than marketing claims. For sea cargo, ask who handles the shipment after arrival in Mombasa and request the legal name of the Kenyan customs clearing agent. Compare at least two or three written quotations using identical cargo information.

Q: How can I verify whether a Kenya customs clearing agent is licensed?

A: Ask your China freight forwarder for the full legal name of the Kenyan company performing the customs declaration. Kenya Revenue Authority defines customs agents as licensed companies and publishes current customs clearing-agent information. Do not verify only the salesperson’s first name or WhatsApp number; you need the registered company name.

Q: Is LCL shipping from China to Kenya charged per CBM?

A: LCL is commonly priced according to cargo volume, chargeable weight or a minimum charging rule, depending on the service. However, the international freight rate per CBM may be only one part of the total cost. China warehouse charges, documentation, destination deconsolidation, customs service and final delivery may be separate. Always ask: “Per CBM from where to where, and what is excluded?”

Q: Is Mombasa the final destination for cargo going to Nairobi?

A: Not necessarily. Mombasa can be the port of discharge while the cargo continues inland. Kenya Ports Authority operates inland container depots, including Nairobi ICD, and Kenya Railways’ freight service carries containerized cargo between Mombasa and Nairobi. Your bill of lading and quotation should clarify whether the contracted place of delivery is Mombasa, Nairobi ICD or your final address.

Q: Does door-to-door shipping mean customs duty is included?

A: No. Door-to-door describes the pickup and delivery scope but does not automatically mean duties and taxes are included. If the quote is DDP, import-clearance and duty responsibilities need to be defined accordingly. If it is DAP or another arrangement, the importer may remain responsible for clearance and taxes. Always ask for the exact Incoterm and a written list of inclusions.

Q: How do I verify a freight forwarder’s WhatsApp number before paying?

A: Get the number from the company’s official website. If another number contacts you, verify it using the official company email or telephone. Also compare the company name on the quotation, invoice and bank account. If bank details change shortly before payment, verify the change through a second communication channel before transferring funds.

Q: What should I check on the Bill of Lading for a China-to-Kenya shipment?

A: Verify the shipper, consignee, notify party, cargo description, port of loading, Port of Mombasa or other discharge point, place of delivery and bill issuer. For forwarder-controlled shipments, also ask who issues the House Bill of Lading and who appears as destination agent. These details should match the logistics structure explained before booking.

Q: Do goods shipped from China to Kenya require KEBS PVoC in 2026?

A: Many regulated products are subject to Kenya’s Pre-Export Verification of Conformity program, but the requirement depends on the product and applicable rules. KEBS’s current PVoC information lists China in Zone 1 and identifies appointed contractors responsible for conformity assessment. Before shipping, confirm the HS code and product-specific compliance requirement rather than assuming every shipment requires the same certificate.

Final Checklist Before You Choose a China-to-Kenya Shipping Agent

Before confirming a booking, you should be able to answer all of these questions:

  • Who collects the cargo in China?
  • Where will multiple suppliers deliver their goods?
  • Who verifies cartons, weight and CBM?
  • Which company issues the freight quotation?
  • Who receives your payment?
  • Who issues the House Bill of Lading?
  • Which shipping line or airline performs the main carriage?
  • Who is the Kenya destination agent?
  • Who is the licensed customs clearing agent?
  • Does the cargo end at Mombasa, Nairobi ICD or your actual address?
  • Which destination charges are excluded?
  • Who coordinates KEBS requirements where applicable?
  • Who pays duty and tax?
  • Who is responsible for inland delivery?

If the forwarder can answer these clearly and in writing, you have a much stronger basis for comparison than simply choosing the lowest advertised freight rate.

The nine companies in this article all have public evidence supporting their inclusion in a China-to-Kenya freight-forwarder shortlist, but their strengths, operating models and service boundaries differ. Treat this list as the beginning of your due diligence—not a substitute for a shipment-specific quotation and partner verification.

Request a China-to-Kenya shipping quote: provide your supplier location, number of suppliers, cargo weight and CBM, preferred shipping method, Incoterm and final Kenya delivery point. A clear RFQ makes it much easier to compare Winsail Logistics with other shortlisted shipping agents on the same terms.
